Developing a business intelligence system is a must for you to incorporate into your business strategies in order to understand the demands of your
customers and serve them better. I was intrigued to find that companies that implemented BI found information that provided the basis for targeted investment and growth of their companies.
Business Intelligence is a process used by companies to gather information from respective business fields to transform it later into knowledge that can be used to understand customer needs. Business Intelligence is particularly important for businesses that require lots of customer data to serve them better.
For instance, the tourism industry can greatly benefit when they have substantial information about the target group of customers, their economic level, their social status, their educational background, their cultural trends, and their the psychological motivation.
Businesses from all over the world have successfully managed to use business intelligence to realize their short-term and long-term goals and it is important that every business likewise uses business intelligence.
Although even the highest levels of uncertainty doesn’t prevent businesses from analyzing predicaments rationally, the financial crisis has shown us the limits of our tools and minds.
When you develop a business intelligence strategy you become aware of the strengths and weaknesses of yourself as well as the strengths and weaknesses of your competitors.
If you used Microsoft tools such as SQL 2005, report services and analysis services, a company could create a BI tool using Excel as a means for display. The great way for you to succeed & develop a stronger company is when you know your competitors as well as yourself.
Take a thorough & critical examination of every aspect in your business in order to carve a niche in this highly competitive business world. You can develop more effective business strategies & marketing strategies only if you have a good deal of information about your industry, your competitors and more importantly, your potential customers.
Many companies use KPI’s (key performance indicators) in business intelligence to evaluate various aspects of a business. Utilizing KPI’s provide you with a greater insight & advantage for your company. The information from KPI’s is readily available to end-users within very little time.
In the absence of KPIs, companies might take several months in order to gather the required information related to the overall performance of the company, causing further delay in adapting business strategies to fit changing market needs.
There are many uses of business developement tools such as data warehouses, data mining, and data modeling to collect, manage, store, and organize business information. Companies greatly rely on these data tools as they help in improving the overall efficiency of the business.
There are lots & lots of vendors who provide business intelligence tools and support. These tools & support help businesses successfully execute their business processes. There is a huge demand for these services & with each & every day that passes. Many companies rely heavily on these services.
If you implement the right strategies & steps, business intelligence tools can do wonders for any business. Business intelligence is something every business must incorporate into their business strategies in order to understand the demands of their customers and serve them better.

Thanks for the information…I bookmarked your site, and I appreciate your time and effort to make your blog a success!
So how do you obtain business intelligence? Just through experience and hard work? Well thanks for the post.
Hi Business Collections,
You obtain Business Intelligence (also know as “BI”) with business intelligence tools and it does involve some hard work. The tools are a type of application software designed to report, analyze and present data. The tools generally read data that have been previously stored, often, though not necessarily, in a data warehouse or data mart.
Some general categories are:
~Spreadsheets
~Reporting and querying software – are tools that extract,
sort, summarize, and present selected data
~OLAP
~Digital Dashboards
~Data mining
~Process mining
~Business performance management
Except for spreadsheets, these tools are sold as standalone tools, suites of tools, components of ERP systems, or as components of software targeted to a specific industry. The tools are sometimes packaged into data warehouse appliances.
There are some open source & free BI tools such as :
~Eclipse BIRT Project: Eclipse-based open source reporting
for web applications, especially those based on Java EE.
~Freereporting.com: Free Web-based BI software application by LogiXML
~JasperSoft: Standalone and Operational
BI for reporting, analysis and ETL (the latter based on
Talend Open Studio) and many more.
Some Proprietary BI products:
~Microsoft Analysis Services
~Microsoft PerformancePoint Server 2007
~Oracle Corporation
~Panorama Software AND MANY MORE.
