Have you ever avoided the challenge of making decisions for your career or business ? Well you are not alone, many people have & do procrastinate when it comes to making many decisions. Many people are “reluctant decision makers” because they fear conflict, have doubts & worry.
Some people feel relieved by procrastinating, rationalizing & denying responsibility in making decisions. Some people steer clear of decision making because some decisions encompass some level of irrevocability. Some people feel that, once a decision has been made there is no returning to “square one” or a slim chance to return to “square one”. There is a price to pay for every decision- good or bad.
Decisions bring us to attention, we may lack confidence in our ability to make decisions or some people may not know how to make decisions. By knowing these facts, they can bring on stress which makes some people uncomfortable till they would rather let others call the shots. Most people will turn away from decision making, stick their “heads in the sand” and let the issues go unresolved.
Make Better Decisions
You can improve your tolerance for making decisions and do a better job at it by embracing a few common sense ideas. You will not be a good decision maker if your goal is to always AVOID losing than TRYING to winning. You can’t expect to be right 100% of the time.
When decisions turn out wrong you can’t afford to be defensive. When you are wrong admit it, if you can correct your mistakes or move on. Sometimes you don’t have to wait for all of the facts in a situation before making a decision. Ask yourself if you understand the issues or have weighed all of the options. Test alternative solutions with those who know the situation or will be impacted by the decision. DECIDE. ACT.
Learn to trust your intuition. Sometimes your intuition is rooted in all the knowledge and experience that you’ve accumulated in general & with regard to the situation at hand.
Decisions about major issues should be broken into smaller more manageable parts. Take the parts one at a time then come to conclusions in sequence. Resist being rushed into most decision making before you are ready to decide & act. Don’t base decisions on popularity or friendship.
In business, some businesses grow and profit only to the extent that their managers make good decisions. Growing companies need & will pay to get people who make good decisions. People who have that ability are in limited supply. This means there are opportunities to gain positions of leadership and earn the material rewards that go to those persons who have the ability & courage to make decisions. So what’s holding you back, huh ?
The Choice Is Yours. Make A DECISION TODAY !!!
